Welcome to Bamboo House, an enchanting cafe and campsite nestled amidst the serene beauty of Mae Chan District, Chiang Rai. This hidden gem promises not just a coffee break, but an experience that connects you to nature and the warmth of Thai hospitality.

As you approach Bamboo House, the steep road adds to the adventure, drawing you into a world where rustic charm meets breathtaking views. The inviting bamboo structure complements the lush surroundings, creating a tranquil atmosphere that welcomes both weary travelers and curious wanderers alike. With a philosophy of simplicity and natural beauty, this lovely spot is designed for those seeking a peaceful retreat or an escape into nature.

The cafe at Bamboo House serves as a cozy haven where you can enjoy a delightful selection of beverages, including aromatic coffee that fuels your exploration of the stunning landscapes around you. Customers rave about the warm ambiance and the friendly nature of the staff, particularly the gracious host, Pim. One visitor, Jan A., describes it as "a very lovely place with friendly people," perfect for a well-deserved break with a fantastic view.

While the coffee may be on the simpler side, the affordability is a significant plus. Peter van Zanten notes the reasonable prices, though he hints that the flavor may be even better with a bit of refinement. However, it's worth mentioning that the enchanting surroundings and the simple joy of sipping coffee in such a picturesque setting more than make up for this minor critique.

For those looking for more than just a coffee break, Bamboo House also offers a unique camping experience. For a mere 100 baht per person, you can set up your tent and immerse yourself in the natural beauty around you. The campsite is described as "extremely pleasant and naturally preserved in Bamboo style," making it an ideal spot for both relaxation and adventure. The bamboo cabins, complete with a balcony bathtub, add a touch of comfort to the camping experience, and Pim ensures that your stay is filled with delicious home-cooked meals, as mentioned by Toby Parlour.

Whether you stop by for a brief coffee break or choose to stay a while and explore the surrounding hills, Bamboo House is a fantastic choice. There are ample opportunities for day trips surrounding the area, allowing you to immerse yourself in the rich culture and stunning landscapes of Chiang Rai. So, take a moment to indulge your senses at this captivating cafe, where the beauty of nature and the allure of Thai culture come together in perfect harmony.

I want to point out that this is a campsite as well as a coffee shop and it’s a good one. Camping is 100 baht per person if you bring your own tent. She also has a few basic bamboo cabins; one even has a bathtub on the balcony! She cooked us food for dinner and breakfast was also available along with coffee, beers and all the necessities. Great camp site. And the host - Pim, is lovely.

Cute cafe along a steep road. Coffee was quite cheap but could be improved taste wise.

This bamboo house now has a simple cafe with nice views of the area. We stopped by for a break during our trip to Mae Salong. They have free toilets facilities but need to walk down the hill a bit. Come and enjoy the view of the hills if you like so.
